Little Miracles’ 5th Anniversary!

Thank you God for putting us in a place where our skills are being so fruitfully invested for your kingdom! Thanks for my steadfast prayer warriors! God is gracious to His fools!

Bus Stop Cafe

We are two weeks into Term 2 on our new three day timetable (Tues, Wed, Thurs). As we guessed, attendance has increased. Now over 50 are coming per day to do the Jesus Challenge and earn a Hot Chocolate. Several parents are coming early to chat, relax and connect. Christine has hit a nerve with the sewing machines. Kids and parents are very keen to sew scrunchies. They’re quick to make and people lose them so they need new ones. We’re on a winner. We are currently teaching the children what happened after Jesus rose from the dead.

He appeared to many people and did some amazing miracles then told His disciples, “Wait in Jerusalem until you receive power from on high”. Our teaching materials cater for the wide variety of levels which present and we’re trying to leave the children with questions, not just answers, ‘cliff-hangers’ so they wonder what might happen next. We are heading into Acts which will be awesome.

Compliance, Safety & Communication

Part of the reason for moving from 5 days to 3 days per week was to allow time to focus on ESTABLISHING Bus Stop Cafe at Corio Christian Centre. This means a new logo (see picture) and an increased focus on compliance and communication. As such we’ll be sending notes home with the children (see above) so their parents know that they are receiving Christian education with us and are invited to come and get to know us better.

Stand at a Local Market

Our friends from Norlane Community Initiatives hosted a market in Labuan Square and Little Miracles had a stand! “Do the challenge Free Choc Milk” read our sign – Just like the deal at Bus Stop Cafe. Over 60 people took the challenge and we moved 6Lt of Chocolate Milk. It was great chatting to so many people, trying to gather support for our outreach work. Many adults agree it’s a shame kids aren’t being taught Christianity in government schools anymore.

Painting, Gardening & Maintenance

Last Saturday we completed a replant of the eastern fence line at Corio Christian Centre with the help of folks from each group using the centre. There’s something so wonderful about the promise of a new garden. The soil is rich and the plants look happy! Plus we’ve finished repainting the kitchen of the church! Now for the toilets.

Pop-Up Church

Our friends from One In Christ brought their band, their families and their tambourine crew in early April. It was a wonderful time with around 65 people attending. This month will be much smaller and so we’re stripping back to the essentials – “How to love the locals in Norlane”? Many of the folks are drug and alcohol affected, have little money or hope for the future. God has provided two guests to share, Pastor Steve Greenslade and Pastor Steven Ragan. It should be a lovely time.

New Section – “Bottom Drawer”

Over the last few months, we’ve been scaling back our commitments to be more sustainable. So now, whenever I get a brilliant idea, I’m not going to pursue it. Instead of developing any major new ideas, I’m going to write them down in this blog and put them in the bottom drawer, as it were. You are welcome to them, to breathe life into them and let them fly ….

So here we go:

Revival Song

I reckon this is a smashing idea. We serve Christians over 60. This demographic is largely forgotten by churches. They often feel worthless, discarded. We host a monthly hymn singing event for over 60’s. They bring a plate to share. The event is to facilitate social connection and bless these older Christians upon whose soldiers we are currently standing. At the event, we direct them to pray for revival for a few minutes. I reckon we could do it in the big, vacant churches in the city, rotating around. We could even tour to other towns and inspire them. Participants would be happy to pay for this and I’m sure the money raised would be enough to pay for a good manager to run it!

Christine and I would love your financial support at our fifth anniversary! We are going, OK but we rely on donations from friends and prayer supporters to cover costs.

Please pray about how you can contribute.

Many thanks,

Angus & Christine

Your contribution goes a LONG WAY to helping spread the gospel in Corio and Norlane.
