Vital Statistics for October

Bus Stop Cafe
It is hard to overstate how excited we are about Bus Stop Cafe. Over 200 school children bundled into the church building in October for free hot-chocolates and received a hearty welcome. We made pizzas, played table tennis and learned to use a sewing machine! Thank you for praying. This type of thing doesn’t just happen. It is the result of our combined efforts and the wise, generous favour of God.
I’m sorry I haven’t taken more photos to show you but here are two of what we did for halloween. We dressed up to reference the scene where two women came to the empty tomb to find Jesus’ body and the angel asked: “Why are you seeking the living among the dead. He is risen as He said He would.”

A Dream Come True
About 10 years ago I (Angus) dreamed of creating a publishing team to make fresh new media to bring God’s word to our fellow Australians. We might not be doing it on a grand scale, but we’re doing it! We challenged Halloween’s celebration of death with Jesus’ resurrection, seen by a vibrant bunch of 50 school children in Corio. We’re also creating new messages in Pop Up Church every month. Our introduction of the Rock Band in October was part of this creative outpouring. Watch this space!

Pop Up Church
Again, I am so sorry I don’t have more photographs for you. We are just so busy trying to get the basics right, I can’t seem to attend sufficiently to photography. So I’ll try my best with words.
We launched the Rock Band with me on drums, Rob Foley on guitar and Duff Swanson on saxophone. The crowd shouted ‘More! More!’ as we finished. Then we switched into worship and bringing the Word through outdoor preaching and testifying. People were smitten. Newcomers, overcome by the power of the Holy Spirit, received loving prayer and counsel from our kindly Christian team. Several people asked me for more afterwards, suggesting we do something to provide more teaching, worship and discipling to those who are coming to the Lord. Not just once a month. So thank you for praying for the kingdom of God to come in power as we serve Jesus wholeheartedly.

Fundraising Dinner

Our first ever information night turned into a time of worship and anointing. It was wonderful. It was very important too in creating a culture where we reach out into different networks to make alliances and build supportive friendships. I trust it will be the first of many.
Sewing Group Launch
We launched a sewing group in October with Christine looking after the adults and Angus looking after the children. The idea was to provide free child-care and free sewing and friendship. We ran it for three Mondays, but we’ve decided to close this because it was not attended well-enough.

Upon reflection, it seems we were keener than the crowd so we need to sow seeds first. As a result, we have decided to set up a sewing machine at the Bus Stop Cafe so that kids and parents can see it and experiment as they please. This was well-received at the last two Bus Stop Cafes we ran. One boy exclaimed, “What’s that? Can I have a go?” After making a simple bag with Christine, he asked, “Can I make one for my sister?”

Prophetic Input

Our friend Diane Spicer invited Christine and I to a prophetic day with David McKracken. He emphasised the importance of the apostolic calling and the guaranteed blessing from God to supply the apostle with everything necessary to fulfil the calling and to bless all those under the apostle’s authority as long as the apostle stays completely focused on fulfilling the calling.
I got to meet former Bridge Church pastor, David Doery.
