May 2025

Thank you so much if you’ve been one of the saints praying for Little Miracles’ ministry. We are seeing so much blessing. I’ll try to cram in as much as I can into this blog post.

To begin with, God has provided a wonderful new helper, Amber Ward, with a background in chaplaincy, beach mission and kids ministry. Amber and her children are volunteering regularly at Bus Stop Cafe and supporting the ministry in a multitude of ways. Praise God for answering our prayers!

Learning to Linger – purposeful inefficiency

Attendance has been through the roof in May with an average of 180 people attending per week. Several single mothers are hanging back later as their children are sewing with Christine and doing craft with Amber. We started singing together spontaneously and playing blocks with the smaller children. We’re creating a safe ‘home environment’ as a way to love our neighbours. We brought out soup and garlic bread and it was lovely, something we will keep doing.

Robin Andrews, from my executive prayer group mentioned this morning that by being part of this these families are part of ‘the household of God’. This is a mystery I’m praying about now. How broad is the household of God? My safe place before God is this: we’re loving our neighbours by providing a chance to earn a free chocolate milk by doing a gospel-challenge. Then being there to listen and teach children and parents to follow Jesus.

Funding from England?

Early in May we were invited to apply for funding from a crew from England who fund edgy evangelism: JustSow.org

We created two special videos and several mentors helped write the final application. They have asked for further information so watch this space!

City on a Hill – Presentation Day

Christine and I were invited to present at City on a Hill Wednesday Morning Group in East Geelong. It was wonderful to be with some older accomplished saints who gratefully heard stories of our mission. We’re enjoying wondering about God’s purposes for our connections with City on a Hill Geelong.

Should we do a holiday program?

Amber has suggested we do a Scripture Union school holiday program at the end of Term 3. We think this is a ‘no-brainer’ as many families are bored in the holidays, Christine and I are tired, but Scripture Union crew could take our locals on a fabulous journey learning to follow Jesus. Please pray about this as we’re waiting on God for guidance.

Volunteer Training

We are hoping to host a volunteer lunch, play and training day in the last week of this Term 2. We’re growing quickly so we must take our crew aside and do the child safe training essential for this ministry.

My Rock Band Going Pro

After several months practising, The Jokers played their first paid gig at Beckley Park Market early in May and it went really well. Praise God for this fun hobby!
