Because of Jesus…

Term 4 has begun very strongly indeed with the average daily attendance at 58, the highest ever. Because of Jesus… is our theme and it gives very practical outcomes of following Jesus. Children are taking home Reward Charts to encourage them to do chores at home as well as honouring their parents, being kind and generous. On the hottest days we give out frozen cordial Zooper Doopers which are a massive hit with the children. Skipping continues to grow in popularity. We are thrilled we can teach so many unchurched children the basics of Christianity with so much fun and kindness.

Can’t afford to stay hurt

This term we’ve been in pain because several lovely regulars seem to have got offended and left. The pain is so palpable and it’s kind of my (Angus’) fault. I said something that hurt one of the mothers and she upped and left with her children and that whole friendship group hasn’t yet returned. These are friends who’ve been with us for 3 years.

I feel the pain quite intensely every day, but I can’t let that stop us from loving those who are coming, the record numbers coming daily. I want to live so that no one hurts me (and I don’t hurt them), but I don’t think that’s really possible this side of Heaven… Oh Lord would you redeem us!

New Website Coming soon

Just to recap if you haven’t been following terribly closely. We have been seeking and discerning God’s future for us for the last 10 months. And we believe we need to simply continue to run Bus Stop Cafe – our outreach to primary school children at Corio Christian Centre AND to offer to help Evangelistic Ministry Leaders engage their local community to learn about Jesus. This means we need to change our website to reflect this change of focus. So this week we had a visit from our dear friend Olly Allars, our photographer, who took all the photos we need for the new website!

A few personal things

I gave a testimony at Grace Church Geelong and they mediarised it. Check out the LINK – about how I met Jesus and a few other things.

The big news is we have a 15 year old boy living with us now as part of the Kinship Care program. He’s the grandson of one of my mother’s best friends, Noel Osbourne. We’ve just finished one week together and things are going really well, praise God! He’s punctual, courteous and good at listening!

In early October I visited my daughter Arielle in Darwin and we hosted a Pop Up Vet Clinic in Kakadu. Desexing dogs on remote Aboriginal communities is our focus and we did really well building healthy relationships which we’ll build on next time, in March.
