Bus stop cafe – Easter Party
Our Easter Party at Bus Stop Cafe was excellent, but we learned something important, too. Over 60 children piled into the church to get an iced chocolate. They poured over the Easter images of Holy week, which they had covered in the weeks prior. Then we played Colin Buchanan’s “Boss of the Cross” on drums and guitar with live singing and they waved flags and had a bit of fun. We gave out prizes to the top learners. Here is a video of the highlights.
I expected the children to enjoy me playing drums, Christine singing and Ps Steven playing guitar. But largely the opposite was true. Many walked out when we started. On reflection, the one-on-one communication we have with the children outweighs the ‘thrill’ of live music. Next event we might not worry about the band and just have more mixing with the crowd… Something to pray about.

Next Term…
We are considering reducing from 5 to 3 days per week in Term 2 for the following reasons:
- It is almost too tiring to do 5 days.
- If we reduced to 3 days:
- I think we would still have over 50 kids per day as the popularity might grow even more as it’s rarer.
- We could spend more time recruiting and supporting workers.
- We could be deployed into other areas such as music, discipling and caring for the church building and garden.
Please join us in seeking God’s mind about this. Also, I just want to give thanks for BSC. It is such an awesome ministry. We are all amazed. Thank you Father God.
Singing in Prison
I got invited to play drums and sing in two prisons over easter. It was a dream come true. We did four church gigs with over 100 attending all up. I have wanted to be involved in something like this for ages and now it’s happening! Thank you God and I get to sing as well!

Pop-Up Church

This month at Labuan Square Pop Up Church we had quite a lot of interference. One bold gentleman even jumped up, grabbed the microphone and declared, “This is the biggest load of sh&t I’ve ever heard”! Despite this, there was so much love being shared around, the gospel going out (and being demonstrated by kindness) and lots of prayer for those searching for a touch from Jesus. We have started to pray that God will send us people He wants to testify and learn to bring the Word of God to the people.
Mainly Play – What’s going on?
Our playgroup finished Term 1 weakly and we’ve realised three playgroups have opened up next door in the kinder centre. This is all new. And some of our families have gone there so we’re reeling a bit and not sure whether to continue or not. Please pray for God’s guidance on this..

Caring for the Church Building
I’m thrilled to be planting 10 Calistamens and some ground covers along a fenceline at Corio Christian Centre in a combined churches working bee in April. We are preparing the soil and they should make a fine hedge in a few years. We’re also slowly painting the kitchen and then the toilets which are currently bright green, orange and purple – left over from the 70’s probably.
