Vital Statistics for September

Pop Up Church is Rocking!

What an awesome time we had with a large crowd and much appreciation for the music from some very unlikely people. We’ve also experienced some little miracles. One lady from Pop Up Church received healing; standing tall for the first time in 4 years, tears streaming down her face. Another young woman recently received Jesus as her Lord and Saviour.

Next time we’ll focus on baptism, introduce a rock band before church and join with a local celebration in Labuan Sq just before we start. We also have a rap to perform!

Our New Sign

Thank you Lord that our name ‘Little Miracles Community’ is now on the sign outside the church building in Purnell Rd, Corio.

Welcome Susan!

Join us in thanking God for Susan who’s recently joined us as a volunteer at Bus Stop Cafe. She asked her boss if she could leave early on Tuesdays and he agreed. Susan is great at listening to and loving the parents and children who come to Bus Stop Cafe. And she loves praying!

Mobile Prayer Unit

Angus attended an Evangelism Training Workshop hosted by a crew from Bendigo. It was so encouraging that they are doing so many of the things we are doing! They worship and preach in local parks and they provide free coffee for their neighbours. We noticed two important differences: We focus on the ‘poor’, those closest to God’s heart. And we focus on 3214. Thus we build an increasingly solid foundation for evangelism and discipling; bringing God’s kingdom in our small corner.

Watering our Lovely Little Trees

For those wondering about the trees we’ve planted over the last few years, they are generally doing very well with very few failures. As winter has been dry, we will continue hand-watering our young trees in three local parks over spring and summer just to make sure they thrive and bring glory to God.

Meeting Leroy Brown from 96Three

Richard and Angus had coffee with the new breakfast host of Geelong’s Christian radio. Leroy suggested we make a podcast telling stories of Little Miracles. He could then use this on radio so it would be a win-win. We’re not sure this is God’s thing for us now, so please pray for God’s will to be done with our relationship with 96Three. Maybe a podcast would be awesome?!

Bus Stop Cafe Parenting Workshops

During the School Holidays Christine led two parenting workshops with Cassie and Jay Spain while Richard, Nilla and Angus cared for the kids. Sorry we don’t have any good photos of the parents’ sessions!

These sessions grew organically from parents sharing their frustrations with us. We gave the parents support and solid parenting tips. We gave the parents homework, shared a pasta meal, made name tags for everyone and generally had a great time. Bus Stop Cafe will continue in Term 4 every Tuesday at 3pm.

Richard Says Hello

“Hi Everyone. About this time last year, I had to come see for myself what this ‘pop up church’ at Labuan square was all about (one of the roughest areas of Geelong). After telling God for 15 years that I was never going to do outreach again, I found myself just compelled to help out. That was over 12 months ago. And with the recent ‘bus stop’ outreach to those in the community, my heart is to follow these people up.

God has laid heavily on my heart 2 verses of scripture

1. The Apostle Paul wrote in 1 Cor ch 2 ‘ my message and preaching were not with persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and power ‘,

and

2. John the Baptist said of Jesus ‘ and He will baptise you with the Holy Spirit and with Fire!!’ Matt 3:11

I passionately desire to impart to others that ‘fire’.. that passion for life in Jesus, !! And we at Little Miracles are seeing the kingdom come in people’s lives, with signs, wonders and miracles.

Launching a Sew Group – from Christine

“We were given a couple of gorgeous sewing machines. At the end of the 2 parenting workshops, the mothers were excited to learn/do sewing and suggested some times. So starting on Mondays in Term 4, we will run a sewing class for all levels. There are at least 5 ladies who have expressed an interest in the idea of a sewing class. A couple of them used to sew in their countries before coming to Australia, so maybe they will teach us!! The focus will be on chatting and learning together. Maybe later we can even sew for charities.” And Angus will do the child-minding.

Angus Leading Worship?

“For the first time, I’ve started singing while playing drums and it’s opened a whole new area of thought. Could I lead worship while playing the drums? So to learn a bit more about worship-leading, I’ve enrolled in an online course by Darlene Zschech. I’ll definitely learn some valuable stuff.”

Vineyard Conference

During September, Angus and Richard attended the Vineyard Conference in the Yarra Valley for refreshment and impartation. It was really lovely and we met a church-planter from Tasmania, Glenn Brown from Wynyard Vineyard. Their “just do it” attitude was refreshing. They seem to be seeing the early stages of revival. We’ll try to get in touch with them in future.

Fundraising Evening

We are working with Diane Spicer to host a fundraising dinner for Little Miracles in October as we believe God has people who would like to finance outreach in 3214 through Little Miracles. We don’t ask for donations from our participants as we’re an outreach, so funding needs to come from those with the means and those with evangelistic hearts. Please pray for success for our fundraising efforts.
