Vital Statistics for August

New Bose Speakers for Pop Up Church
We are so grateful to God and to our friend Ferry who’s given us a new sound system, just when we needed something better to serve the outdoor church for the season ahead!

New Pizza Oven
I’m so grateful for our new gas-powered pizza oven to use at Corio Christian Centre for Bus Stop Cafe. It’s reliable and easy to use. We love it!

Huge attendance at Pop Up Church

Early August we had about 30 Unchurched locals and 40 Christians and Leaders at Pop Up Church in Norlane. God provided leaders to bring a gentle but powerful message of new life through repentance and faith in Jesus. There was lots of prayer, friendship and connection. Plus fish and chips.
God is calling us to take more responsibility for pastoring this growing church. Exciting times indeed.
New Ideas for Pop Up Church
Last post I mentioned we’d been reading a book on Church for the Unchurched. It’s inspired me to dream bigger. One idea is a rock band before the church to gee up the crowd. Another idea is to Live Stream the talks at Church and post the recordings on social media. Next time we’re having Hot Dogs and we’re giving away vouchers to local kids for Free Hot Dogs.

Follow Up
I’m thrilled to be able to give one of our friends, Mark, a financial gift from the church to help him through some very challenging times.

August Tree Planting

We returned to the park after canceling the event earlier due to poor weather. This involved two different permits from the council and two different rounds of flyers. Despite all this, there was a very small crowd.
The locals kept away. Perhaps it was because I mentioned Bible Stories on the flyers. Only our friends came. So it was a low-key event but encouraging nonetheless and the park will be better with 12 beautiful new trees.

Employment of Richard Gregorio
Richard brings kindness, welcome and Holy Spirit words to both Bus Stop Cafe and Pop Up Church, so he’s now employed by Little Miracles for $100 per week. His valuable contribution is being remunerated. We hope this encourages more people to step up into serving in outreach in 3214 and to learn the skills of outreach. Funding Angus and Richard through Little Miracles is a step of faith. We will increase our fund-raising efforts to give God something to work with in this department.

Bus Stop Cafe – Going So Well!
With 5 Tuesdays in August, we had over 130 children and parents at Bus Stop Cafe enjoying intergenerational, cross-cultural fun in Jesus’ name! What an enormous privilege to be part of this. We believe God is working out His plans through us!
Pizza Making has been a hit with our new oven and so is craft thanks to Christine. We are excited to welcome volunteers such as Marcus, Susan and Stuart and Nilla. We stop for dinner, Bible Study and prayer afterwards to feed those wanting to grow in Christ.

Parenting Workshop in the School Holidays
We have decided to host two Parenting Workshops in the September School Holidays because several mothers and one father have poured out their hearts about the challenges of parenting. We’ll offer free childcare during the workshops and keep them on Tuesday to keep the continuity. Please pray for this as it’s a new challenge with great potential.

Old-Fashioned Publicity
Every month Christine and I take our two dogs around 3214 and put around 2-300 flyers into letterboxes to advertise Pop Up Church. A lot of our target audience does not use the Internet.
Thank you for upholding all this in prayer!
