Where are we going?

We’ve recently welcomed a new board member, Graham Higgins who asked the question, “Where are we going?” He explained that it will be easier to recruit leaders and board members once we know where we’re going. So I asked my wider prayer group to please ask God to give us an idea of His best plans for the next few years.

Not long after this I was in Warburton with Chrsitine looking after her mother Val. I was out praying in the mighty forest and I asked God about this question, “Where are we going?” At once I felt the conviction of the Holy Spirit, that still small voice of God I love so much. “There are more children you could teach about Jesus”, was the sense. Like God was inviting me to expand my sense of responsibility to teach more children about Jesus. So today I want to invite you to join me on the journey of expanding.

What will ‘expanding’ mean?

The first step is saying yes to God. “Yes, we will teach more kids about Jesus”. This is a big change as we’ve stopped dreaming about new ideas and just focussed on ‘pastoring’ the children who come each day. This is daring to dream again. Please ask God to guide us as we work through how to please God by teaching MORE kids about Jesus. To could mean a lot of new things but we need God’s ways not the good ways.

We had a Salvation this month!

Bianca (not her real name) came to us about 6 months ago with 7 year old twin girls. She had come to Geelong to escape a domestic violence situation. Her girls love playing at Bus Stop Cafe and Bianca felt right at home, too. She talked a lot with Amber and slowly realised she needed to get her life right with God. She has now committed her life to Jesus and is looking at getting baptised. We have given each of them a Bible and have been caring for them outside of our normal opening times. We’ve prayed for the Kingdom of God to come in power and now it’s happening!!!

Garden Update – Jumping rope

I’m thrilled the garden is largely finished. Children are running around in it and the hardy plants we’ve put in are standing up to the challenge. This is the purpose, to be a place for children to play. You can see in this picture we’re using the front garden for skipping. This is such a good activity for children. Some kids have no idea about it though so we are teaching them. Praise God!

Amber is leaving for a new adventure

We’re so grateful to God for bringing Amber and her daughters Lilly and Hannah to serve at Bus Stop Cafe. Amber has helped us extend the ‘hangout’ time after the initial activity of Bus Stop Cafe and build discipling relationships through hanging out and playing Uno, table tennis, pizza on Wednesdays and playing catch etc. Amber has been incredibly reliable and the kids have particularly loved playing with her daughters. Now it seems the family is on a new God-inspired adventure which will take them away from Corio. So please pray God’s blessing on them as they begin a new chapter of serving God.

More funding has been approved!

In November, two lots of funding were approved, one from Just Sow for $20,000 and one from Christian Brethren Trust for $20,000. So our main funding for next year has been approved. It is amazing to realise we’ve completely moved from being a tiny experimental outreach crew to a reliable charity that delivers targeted Christian teaching to around 100 families 3 times per week in Corio. And now God is inviting us to teach more kids about Jesus. Please journey with us as we walk daily in faith bringing the kingdom of God in power!

First gig at Grace Church a winner!

I had my first ever gig at Grace Church. I had to use the headphones with a Music Director, Metronome and backing tracks at the same time as creating inspiring music to help the people worship and encounter Jesus. It was so good to play worship drums again! And I got great feedback!
